Hiking Trails in Moraga

Hiking Trails in Moraga :)

Gaia GPS is awesome! Highly recommend it... even with no signal, gps still works and you can download the maps to be offline :)

1.Old Moraga Ranch Trail - sanders ranch to bollinger canyon - I checked today, there is nowhere to park on bollinger canyon side.

2.Kings Canyon Loop

3.Lafayette Rim Trail- starting by campolindo

4.Redwoods Trail (starting from pinehurst and canyon) - Figured out a simple 5 mile loop (with hills :) ) Best place when its extremely hot out! Shade all the way! Kids like to follow the creek by pinehurst and canyon collect rocks etc.

5.Augusta Trail (behind MCC) - you can get to the flag pole behind JM with this trail. I *think* you can take this ridgeline trail... all the way to wilder! But I have to check google satellite :) Note: not public land... its all own by bruzzones... so pretend you are lost :) or stay along the ridge line :) Down below close to JM you will see a shack with some cars...

6.Rocky Ridge Trail and Loop- and a detour trying to get to Rampage peak... but ran out of time!

7.The forbidden path (name I gave this path) :) This will take you do the native american site by the water... when you get to the water... walk on the sandstone formations and you will see holes in it :)

6/7 A mixture of Rocky Ridge Trail and forbidden Trail - Figure out a loop!

8.Trails in Redwood Forest are awesome... French trail for sure! Check out the running courses - 1/2 marathon course was really nice

9. Lake Chabot Trail - i don't think I have actually done this one..

10. Mt Diablo

11. Las Trampas Wilderness -

12. Great hike was Shell Ridge in walnut creek- worth the drive - you want to walk the ridge line. (I got my mom to even do it!! But that is only because the girls took off and she was afraid they fell off a cliff!)

13. Hiking from Moraga Rancho Laguna to Mount Diablo Summit!! (22 miles)
Robert hiked from Moraga to Mount Diablo Summit - in 9h 19 minutes!

Soups

Soups

Chicken legs- with or with out skin
Carrots
Celery chopped up finely
Onion
Bay leaf
Black pepper ( my mom would put in whole black pepper corns in... I don't just because if the girls got it... They would not be happy!)

That is the base...
Buy shiitake mushrooms and you can dump some mushrooms in the soup... Flavor does not change much but it's basically a hot water extraction. ( get shiitake from whole foods - there supplier is far west fungi!)

Then if I have turmeric I put that in... You could put corn in to...
Or
Some times I put in leek and potatoes ( leek is a yummy smell)

Wild rice is awesome... You could put in with the leek... The wild rice gives it a totally different smell.

Try different grains and rice... They all give off something different!

Oh and my mom likes to make cabbage soup too... Basically it I think curly cabbage, potatoes, carrots, bay leaf, oinon, pepper, chicken or steak or no meat, some tomatoes cut up fine, could put some white rice ( just a little). Than when it is done, you add sour cream to the soup... Soo yummy! :)

Then fry 1 big onion chopped + 1 huge carrot chopped  (i also added finely cut shiitake mushroom)
Then add to soup.
